Weekly Caretaking is a dedicated responsibility, and we believe you are prepared for this exciting challenge! The Garden Collaborative welcomes businesses, churches, nonprofit organizations, youth groups, friends, and others to participate in caring for the garden for a week during the growing season.
Each adoption lasts Monday–Sunday and includes: 🌼 Daily check-ins for pests or damage 🌿 Weeding & watering as needed 🍅 Noticing what’s ripe and ready 📲 Using the QR code at the scale to log your harvest 🥕 Sharing fresh produce with families Whether you're a green thumb or just garden-curious, your time makes a difference! 🌞 Beds are labeled, signs will guide you, and the joy of helping feed families is priceless. The Community Teaching Garden originated from feedback from various Cocke County organizations, expressing the need for a designated space to offer nutrition education through experiential learning. With a grant opportunity from the Tennessee Department of Health, this vision was transformed into reality.
A naming contest was organized for the garden, resulting in the winning name "Garden of Eat’ N" submitted by Heather Marshall, a local resident and employee at the Cocke County Health Department, with roots in the community. The Garden serves two primary purposes:
